HACK- Part 11- Others
**Battery Operated Lights- These lights can be used in lamps and other bulb items. There is a battery inside of them and if the lights go out suddenly, they come on with battery power. They last several hours. If needed to use as a flashlight, they can be removed from the lamp and a screw-on cover for the end can be applied that triggers the battery to keep the light on. (QVC, HSN)
**Cooler Fan- If you need cool air and a fan is all you have, prior to that have water bottles frozen in the freezer. Remove them and tie to the back of the fan (a towel under for condensation) or set in a bowl in front and as the air moves across the cold bottles it will cool the air more than room temp.
**Tomatoes- Dig a trench, pull off most of the lower leaves and lay the plant in the trench w/ only a small amount of the plant above ground. Cover w/ soil. This will create a stronger root system as the hairs on the stem will form roots.
**Tomatoes-To do succession planting of tomatoes, take the suckers off and plant them in a glass of water 1st to grow some roots then plant them. All your tomatos will not ripen at the same time as the plants will develop over several weeks as you plant new ones.
**Upside Down Jars-Turn items upside down and it will keep the air pocket at the "top" of the jar (really the bottom) and it is supposed to help w/ freshness and mixing of oils and fluids in the items.
