The Lion's Gate Portal opens every year during the Astrological Leo and is at the highest energy Aug 8. It is when Sirius (also known as Sothis in Egypt), the Dog Star, rises and is visible in the night sky. In ancient Egypt this meant that Sopdet, Goddess of fertility was bringing the farming season into play again as the Nile is affected during this time brings silt and waters/ floods for the farmers annually. It used to mean the start of a new year. The Sun is in Leo hence the Lion's Gate name. Orion's belt and Earth are all lined up to create the Portal. These days are the Dog Days of Summer, not those advertised in the early summer and is a separate event from the Gate though they happen at the same time w/ similar ancient origins.

As some Astrologers believe it is a specific date, Aug 8 (Numerological 8/8) there is a powerful energy associated w/ that number- In Numerology it can mean Power, Control, Authority and Money. According to them the number can mean the 8th house and the 8th sign Scorpio creating the energy of Transformation, Passion and Sexuality.

In Tarot the 8th card of the Major Arcana is Strength and it is a woman w/ a Lion and her strength in interacting with the power of the Lion. They share power each in their own way. Notice the Infinity symbol over their heads-an 8 turned sideways meaning forever.
